There is a new math camp starting in Saskatoon:
Extreme Math Camp 2014 will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 26 and June 27 at Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon. The camp is designed to mathematically challenge able students in grades 7 to 10 who have an interest in mathematical problem solving. We will have presenters from the University of Waterloo, University of Saskatchewan and elsewhere leading four sessions each day with students split into a junior group (typically grades 7 and 8) and a senior group (typically grades 9 and 10).
The fee for the camp is $50 for students from outside of Saskatoon. This covers tuition for the two days, snacks, a t-shirt, and prizes. We are able to keep the fee this low due to the generous support of the Saskatchewan Mathematics Teachers’ Society and the University of Waterloo. Last year we had 40 students attend the first Extreme Math Camp and the participants were very enthusiastic about their experience.
I am hoping that you could pass this information on to students that you think might benefit from the math camp. The camp is strictly a day camp, so no meals or accommodation is provided.
